For over six months, the case of the wayward bust found on the Ventnor Boardwalk has mystified police.

The 20-pound clay bust was found by a Ventnor Police officer on the Boardwalk near Lafayette Avenue in November. Since then, police have tried a variety of methods to determine whose sculpture it is and how it came to be on the Boardwalk.

They've notified other police departments, printed fliers with pictures of the bust, gone door-to-door in the neighborhood and posted pictures of the bust on their Facebook page.

So far, no one has come forward to claim the head.

The bust is of an older man with sideburns, his hair combed back and parted. The sculpture is about a foot tall and on a wooden base. The name "HILDA " is written next to the number 72.

Do you know who lost their bust head? If so, call Ventnor Police at 609-822-2101.
