Once in a blue moon will actually be happening again in South Jersey this weekend.

According to NJ.com, the last blue moon to rise over South Jersey took place on July 31st, 2015. We'll have to wait until January 31st, 2018 for the next blue moon effect.

According to Wikipedia, a blue moon is either the third of four full moons in a season, or a second full moon in a month. The noon won't actually have a shade of blue color. The planet Mars may also be visible weather permitting. The red planet will have an orbit that will bring it close to earth. The blue moon and the red planet will pair up over the South Jersey sky.

The weather this weekend may be a problem. The moon will rise  Saturday night at 8 pm. Our Lite Rock meteorologist Dan Zarrow is calling for clouds and rain for most of Saturday.
