A Margate resident wants to change the name of the town she lives in, and is taking her suggestion straight to the Mayor.

Carole Christensen Lieff wrote this to Press of Atlantic City:

"I get so tired of having to explain where Margate is, what Margate is, and to have to spend several minutes explaining that Margate is not Bayonne, or Newark or somewhere that has oil refineries in one’s backyard. I have solved this by saying I’m from Margate-by-the-Sea."

Lieff mentions that she's gone as far as lobbying Margate Mayor Michael Becker to change the name of the city to “Margate-by-the-Sea.”

Lieff continues, writing, "Why can’t we change the name of the city to more accurately reflect its uniqueness and beauty? We change area codes all the time, why not this?"

What do you think of Carole's idea? Should Margate's name be changed? Vote in our poll below.
