A Ventnor man has confessed to killing a South Jersey classmate more than 20 years ago.

Steve Goff turned himself into police in Galloway Township Tuesday and admitted to the 1990 killing of 15-year-old Frederick “Ricky” Hart.

At the time of the killing, both were students at Absegami High School. Goff was reportedly planning to plead to guilty, but was told by a judge that he couldn’t do so without a lawyer present.

He is currently being held on $1 million cash bail, and is scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Atlantic County at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

According to Cat Country 107.3, Steve Goff has a Facebook page, that can still be accessed. His last post, from last Friday, reads:

I am a Roman Catholic it is very hard for me to compromise on my core beliefs on homosexuality. But this is 2013 not 1813 and we are in the modern technol age. That age is now crossing many moral boundaries with many different faiths around the globe. We all need to sit down and have an adult discussion as to where we are going and how we are going to get EVERYONE THERE! Without killing each other. Some people have a problem with conceding the thought of what “God” they have come to know is a culmination of things and not a deity. Nor should they if that is what they chose. We can do some real amazing stuff if unleashed. I know we can. I know what I am capable of doing. And I am not getting any younger. The control freaks of the world need to step aside and hand us some tools.
