Live and Explosive Cannonball found in Lower Township Backyard

The Atlantic City Bomb Squad responded to a call after a resident found a live cannonball in his backyard.The homeowner found the cannonball after digging in his backyard. Police were called  immediately to the 200 block of West Bates Avenue in the Villas section of Lower Township.

According to the Shore News Today, "The cannonball was 5 inches in circumference with a brass cap on it".  The device was stamped “4k, 85mm.”

The Atlantic City Police Bomb Squad removed the live cannonball from the yard and detonated it in an safe and unpopulated area.
