A winner in the bidding process for a new liquor store license in Egg Harbor Township was announced this week.

The winning bid of $420,000 was placed by Brooke Stromfeld of Linwood. Stromfeld is married to Adam Stromfeld, who owns Joe Canal's Discount Liquors on Fire Road in Egg Harbor Township.

The Township committee voted in January to offer a 5th license to distribute liquor in EHT. They set a minimum bid price of of $275,000.

According to Shore News Today, there were two other bids submitted for the license, one by the owners of the Egg Harbor Township ShopRite, and the other by the owners of Eagle Mart News and Tobacco in Harbor Village Square.

Once the township committee approves the sale to Stromfeld, the application must be reviewed by the Division of Alcohol Beverage Control and by Egg Harbor Township Police.

If the application is approved, the township will officially issue the license to Stromfeld, most likely before year's end.
