Lily Is Shy But Fun & Really Cute – Pet of the Week [VIDEO]

Every Thursday morning at 7:15am on the Lite Rock Morning Show, the Humane Society of Ocean City brings in the new Lite Rock Pet of the Week.

If you are thinking about adding a pet to your family, please consider adopting from the Humane Society of Ocean City, a no-kill shelter recognized as one of the nation’s top ten animal shelters.

All of the animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped before adoption. All animals also receive an Alumni Card which entitles them to a 10% lifetime discount for veterinary services at the Humane Society of Ocean City clinic.

This week we met “Lily” the dog. Lily is a 7-year-old soft-coated wheaten terrier

Here is some information on Lily from the Humane Society of Ocean City:

“Lily is a Soft-coated wheaten terrier, who was brought to the HSOC as a stray and was unclaimed.  She is around 7-8 yrs old, she is full of love and fun!! Lily is a bit shy, but overall very friendly and warms quickly to a friendly voice or tasty treat!

She is fond of greeting folks with her trademark "wheaten-welcome" (front feet hop up & down, rear feet stay on ground).

Lily can be vocal (barks) when attempting to gain attention, a lot of this is kennel-stress, but she still may be a vocal girl!

She is gentle, friendly, & very much wants a person to bond with. Lily is likely okay with other animals and kids (~7 & up) but visits are always required and largely (but not solely) determinate in those aspects. Lily has a skin allergy which requires a grain-free diet and she appears to be housebroken."

**FYI Kennel-stress is a combination of stress-inducers that can cause frantic behaviors in dogs, such as barking, chewing, frantic running/circling, irregular movements, etc. When viewing dogs in any kennel-type environment is important to remember they are under a lot of stress and this will usually have negative affect upon their behavior.

If you would like to visit Lily or need more information about any animal up for adoption at The Humane Society of Ocean City, call 609-399-2018 or stop in any day between 11a-3p.To adopt from the HSOC you will need one form of identification, which includes your name, permanent address and proof of ownership (i.e., local tax stub).

If you rent, written approval from your landlord is required as well as personal identification.The adoption fee is $50.00 for cats or kittens and $85 for dogs, adults and puppies.

They accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and debit cards. Checks are accepted upon management’s approval. All adoptions include spay/neuter surgery, microchip if requested, free first vet exam, and all necessary vaccinations through the first year. Adoption applications are available at the shelter.
