Large Sinkhole Forces Closure of Rt 9 in Absecon

It's a long way down and you end up in it. A large sinkhole on Rt 9 in Absecon collapsed Monday evening that police are cautioning could take several hours to repair.

The sinkhole is in the northbound lane of Route 9 (New Road) in the area of Meadowview Ave. (Holy Spirit High School), between California and Ohio Avenues, with traffic being detoured at California Ave while the repairs are being made.

The sinkhole repairs are still ongoing as of 5 a.m. Tuesday.
