Every Thursday morning at 7:15am on the Lite Rock Morning Show, the Humane Society of Ocean City brings in the new Lite Rock Pet of the Week.

If you are thinking about adding a pet to your family, please consider adopting from the Humane Society of Ocean City, a no-kill shelter recognized as one of the nation’s top ten animal shelters.

All of the animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped before adoption. All animals also receive an Alumni Card which entitles them to a 10% lifetime discount for veterinary services at the Humane Society of Ocean City clinic.

This week we met Kitty the cat…

Here is some information on Kitty from the Humane Society of Ocean City:

“Kitty is an extra large solid gray domestic short haired cat. He is approximately 6 years old. Kitty was moved to Ocean City from Colorado with his family about 1 year ago.

Unfortunately, they had to move again and this time they weren't allowed to have pets. So, Kitty and his canine friend, Dasher were surrendered to the HSOC.
Devastated from this newest life change, Kitty spends a lot of time under a blanket in his cage. It's taken some work, but shelter staff has earned his trust. If you lift the blanket, Kitty is there, purring and waiting for belly rubs.

Kitty is a wonderful cat and a loyal companion but it's not instantaneous. It's going to take some patience to help kitty adjust to a new home. He is in need of a calm, quiet household that is committed to keeping him for the duration of his life.

Kitty is vocal, affectionate and will roll over in an instant to get a belly rub. He likes to sleep in bed and sit on laps. He's good with dogs and okay with other feline friendly cats. He's been with kids but would probably prefer to live with adults only."
