The man who founded the well-known South Jersey vehicle rental business Just 4 Wheels was struck and killed while crossing Shore Road in Northfield Saturday night.Bob Simon, 82, who founded Just 4 Wheels,  was killed while on his way to have dinner at Ventura's Offshore Cafe in Northfield Saturday evening.

According to the Press of Atlantic City, Simon had parked across the the street from Ventura's on Surrey Avenue and was hit when he stepped out in front of a passing car on Shore Road.

A preliminary investigation found that the driver of the car, Joseph Lonnegran, 67, of Ocean City, had done nothing wrong.

A long-time employee at Just 4 Wheels was quoted by The Press as saying that Ventura's was Simon's favorite restaurant, and that he typically parked across the street to avoid the crowded parking lot.

Simon started Just 4 Wheels on the White Horse Pike in Galloway in 1978 with 9 used police cars available for rent. Today the business has 9 locations in New Jersey and New York with 3000 vehicles available for rental.

Simon was treated at the scene by Shore EMS and transported to the city division of AtlantiCare where he died.
