The owners of the Rainforest Cafe like Atlantic City so much, they went to court for the right to stay open, even though the Trump Plaza Casino where they are located has closed.

Tuesday, a federal judge agreed to rework the lease to give the restaurant permission to operate from the space on the Atlantic City Boardwalk for the next twenty years.

The deal was worked out after a legal battle between the Trump Entertainment Resorts and Landry's, the company which runs the restaurant and Golden Nugget Atlantic City.

Landry's owner Tilman Feritta had claimed that Trump Entertainment was trying to put the restaurant out of business.

Tuesday, Landry's general counsel Steven Scheinthal told the Press of Atlantic City that the restaurant had fought to remain open.  "We want to be here. That's why we did it. The business, and the land it sits on, is still valuable", he said. “It’s still worth fighting for.”

As part of the deal, Rainforest Cafe has agreed to build walls to create a separate space from the former casino and to take control of its own trash removal and building upkeep.

It is good news to have the Rainforest Cafe remaining open in Atlantic City!  It's great news that they were willing to fight to do so.
