There are few things in life better than a trip to the salon for a pedicure.  It used to be an occasional treat for me.  Now I’m going more often.  Yeah!!

But there’s more to a pedicure than just looking cute in a pair of flip flops.  The whole experience is wonderful and relaxing… from the chair that massages your back to the nice girl who massages your feet.  Ahhh…heaven, right??

Well, not for me, thanks to Seinfeld.  Yep, that’s right, an episode of Seinfeld that’s engrained in my head for eternity.  Perhaps you’re already familiar with it.  If not, here’s a little recap..Elaine suspects that a local nail shop is making fun of her in Korean. She learns that George’s dad Frank speaks Korean and brings him along to spy on them.

It was actually a very funny episode, but unfortunately whenever I get a pedicure I feel like I’m Elaine in the salon.  Here’s the scenario:  I get ready for my pedicure, and the nice girl asks me the same thing every time.  “Would you like manicure?”  No thanks, I tell her.  I don’t have time, I always mess them up, blah blah blah.

Then she proceeds to talk to the other girl in Korean, and they both start giggling.  And of course I’m thinking they must be talking about me.  I can only imagine what they’re saying!  No matter how hard I try to think about something else, I can’t.  When I get home my thoughtful kids tell me they’re so glad I took time out for myself to get a pedicure.  And they always ask me if I enjoyed it.  Oh, yes…it was awesome!  I can’t wait to go back.  Damn Seinfeld…
