This morning I woke up and looked at the calendar (well, actually I looked at my phone) and I was like, "July 1st??  Whaaaat??".  How did that happen?

This summer is really no different than any other summer.  I spend the rest of the year waiting impatiently for summer to get here.  And before you know it, it's summer and it seems to be going way too fast.  Why can't winter be like that instead?  Winter seems to drag on and on with no end in sight.  Then one day you wake up, and it's July!  Wow!

It's not like I'm not enjoying my summer so far.  I love summer!  But I can count on one hand how many days I've actually been to the beach for an entire afternoon.  It's not like I didn't try, but sometimes the weather changed up with no warning and I left the beach early.  And it never fails that a few hours later (after getting home and showering) it's a beach day again.  Wacky beach weather!

No doubt there's still plenty of summer ahead.  I just wish it would go a little slower.  Those lazy days of summer are just an urban legend, I think.  Even as a kid, summer vacation never seemed quite long enough.  So I've decided to stop looking at the calendar (or the date on my phone) and simply enjoy every day that I can this summer.  My house might be a little dustier and my laundry pile might get a little higher, but who cares?  It's summer, and I intend to enjoy every minute of it.  :)
