Congratulations to Executive Director Bill Hollingsworth and his dedicated staff at the Humane Society of Ocean City on their award as the Trupanian 2014 Shelter of the Year.

The award will be presented during the 60th annual ProPlan Show Dog Awards ceremony on February 14th in Gotham Hall, New York City.

Over the years we have been doing the Pet of the Week on the Lite Rock Morning Show, I have come to know and love the staff and the good work they do at the Humane Society of Ocean City! My dog Sheba is an alumnus of the HSOC. They are completely deserving of this recognition and I couldn't be happier for them! What a wonderful asset to South Jersey.

Please consider adopting your next pet from the Humane Society of Ocean City.  By the way, the Lite Rock Pet of the Week can be heard Thursday mornings at 7:15am.

Here is the press release with details about their award.

"On January 7th, 2015 the HSOC was notified by Trupanion that we were selected as 2014 Shelter of the Year that will be presented at the 60th annual ProPlan Show dog awards ceremony on February 14th in Gotham Hall, New York City.

The award was based on everything the HSOC does, from the Shelter, Veterinary Center, Animal Rescue, Animal Control, Behavioral modifications, Public Education, Pet therapy, Alumni initiatives, Emergency planning and working with other rescues.

The selection process was determined by editorial teams of Dogster and Rescue Proud Magazines and the staff of Trupanion.

We are one of only a select few across the country that offer all of these innovative community based programs.  Ocean City has always been recognized as America’s family resort. However, now it also has a Shelter that has been acknowledged as one of the leaders in modern day sheltering.

“We are honored and this award was achieved by our dedicated staff, Board of Directors, volunteers, the animals that we serve as well as the City of Ocean City Governmental agencies and it’s residence.  We truly live up to our motto, “providing the highest level of compassion and service to our animal friends”. -Bill Hollingsworth, Executive Director."
