The first official day of winter isn't until December 21st. The days are already starting to get shorter and shorter. Winter is coming and before you know it, we'll need the gloves, scarves, and winter shovels.

Last winter we were pretty lucky and we dodged more than one snowstorm. This winter  may be a different story.

Some forecasters are predicting a bitter cold winter, with above average snow, and the potential for numerous storms for the winter of 2016/2017.

According to NOAA Climate.gov, if this turns out to be the winter of  La Niña, we could be looking at a wetter, cooler winter, which I'm all for!

The Farmer’s Almanac is out with their long range forecast for the winter of 2017. It looks like most of the snowfall, which will be above normal, will occur during mid-to-late January and early-to-mid February. Get ready to bundle up starting in late December right through mid February. The Farmer’s Almanac is predicting some of the coldest temps of the winter during this time.

I'm not really a snow lover. I'd be happy with a couple of inches of snow on December 24th only, and if it were up to me, that would be it for the entire winter!
