New Jersey is full of towns with very interesting names, especially here in South Jersey. Have you ever wondered how they got their name? Abseson was the first town name we dug into. Next up, EHT.

According to Wkipedia, Egg Harbor Township was originally part of Gloucester County in 1693 and known as New Weymouth. Parts of Galloway were absorbed in EHT back in Spring 1774. The Lenni Lenape Native Americans were the original inhabitants of the township.

Great Egg-Harbour Township, which became the Western part of the town, came to be in 1761.  A Dutch explorer back in 1614 named this area after discovering a plethora of waterfowl eggs in the meadows. He called this place, "Eieren Haven", which literally means Egg Harbor.

EHT is also home to Tony Canale Park and the legendary Storybook Land, which has been entertaining children for over 60 years.
