Did you ever drive by one of the our stunning local waterways and notice the amount of trash and litter that is marring its beauty? It's upsetting and almost unfathomable that people have such little regard for our environment!

Well, here's your chance to do something about it this Sunday in Ventnor with the Surfrider Foundation South Jersey Chapter.

Volunteers of the Surfrider Foundation South Jersey Chapter will remove trash from the Wellington Avenue bayfront area 11a- 2p Sunday, Nov. 13 to raise awareness about the environmental impact of litter.

This Sunday's event is one of Surfrider’s four annual cleanups along Wellington Avenue,  welcoming volunteers who will pick up discarded trash that causes harm to the environment.

The Wellington Avenue cleanup is particularly important because drivers who witness the cleanup are inspired to know more about what the volunteers are doing, Krissy Halkes, who organized the cleanup, told Shore News Today

“Their curiosity is sparked, and that creates an awareness of not only what we’re doing, but an awareness of the trash that’s out there,” Halkes said.

The Surfrider Foundation cleanups Wellington Avenue four times each year.

Surfrider will make sure volunteers have the supplies they need to pick up the trash and that it is properly disposed of. Volunteers can also expect snacks and refreshments courtesy of Surfrider.

All cleanups take place rain or shine.
