DC Comics shares an interesting relationship with its TV properties, always dancing around some of the major heroes and villains, to the point that NBC’s proposed office comedy Powerless might have slim pickings. Now, a new report on the pilot script supposedly identifies the first notable comic brawl, along with some familiar allies of the Super Friends.

Take this with a grain of salt for now, as pilot scripts are always subject to change, but Season Zero reviewed a reported draft of the Powerless script, in the process revealing what DC characters we can expect in the initial half-hour. Some of the heavy hitters like Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman at least appear in comic form for the main titles, while the first sequence apparently features a train battle between the Crimson Fox and Jack O’Lantern.

The series itself is reportedly set in “Charm City,” often taking place in either the office setting itself, or the nearby Big Belly Burger, the same franchise frequently referenced in both Arrow and The Flash. Also apparently among the main cast are Marvin and Wendy, described as “twins who finish each other’s sentences but they always do it wrong,” and who share names with the classic Super Friends characters hanging around the team.

The single-camera series is described as an Office-type comedy without any actual superheroes, set at “one of the worst insurance companies in America — with the twist being that it also takes place in the universe of DC Comics. The show is about the reality of working life for a normal, powerless person in a world of superheroes and villains.”

Firefly favorite Alan Tudyk will play Del, Emily (Vanessa Hudgens)’s new boss, as well as the company owner’s son and “a power-mad disastrous dictator of a boss,” while Community alum Danny Pudi will play Teddy, Emily’s best work friend, trusted confidante and office prankster. Christina Kirk will play Jackie, superhero fan and assistant to Tudyk’s Del, buckling under the pressure.

A to Z alum Ben Queen will shepherd the series, executive producing with pilot director Michael Patrick Jann. Could other DC favorites show up in time, or will NBC keep the series low-key?
