A 13-year-old girl in Maine suffered first and second-degree burns after her iPhone caught fire while in her pants pocket.

The girl knew something was wrong when she sat down and heard a popping noise. Smoke started to come out of her back pocket.

The Banger Daily News is reporting that if it weren't for the girl's quick reaction to "stop, drop and roll" and quickly remove her pants, her injuries might have been much more serious.

Firefighters believe the fire started when the battery shorted out. They warned people not to put their phones in back pockets so they don’t get crushed and cause an electrical short.
