The wild weather of 2014 will continue into early next week. It was just a couple of days ago that a record low was recorded at Atlantic City International Airport in EHT. The thermometer hit a record low of minus 1. It was even colder in Hammonton as the temps plunged to -3. The coldest spot in South Jersey belonged to west of Vineland at -4.

Round two of the artic blast is set for Monday night. Monday's high will be close to 50 and then temps will plummet to single digits. We won't get out of the mid-teens on Tuesday.

Here are some cold weather tips to keep handy for early next week:

Dress in layers and wear a hat to retain body heat, and use a scarf or a knit mask to cover your face.

  • Wear a water-resistant coat and shoes.
  • Take precautions to make sure you don’t fall on ice.
  • Plan ahead and have your home well prepared.
  • Check on elderly neighbors.

Make sure your cell phone is charged in case of an emergency. Keep extra food blankets, flashlights and batteries in your home and your car just in case you get stuck on the road.
