In an effort to improve the health and well being of southern New Jersey veterans and increase their access to convenient, quality healthcare, Shore Physicians Group will host a week of free health screenings for all veterans.

The screenings will take place at the Shore Urgent Care sites in Northfield and Mays Landing and at Shore Crucial Care in Atlantic City from Tuesday, Aug. 19th, to Sunday, Aug, 24th.

The week will kick off with a special reception beginning at 11:30 a.m. August  19th at the Shore Urgent Care located at 2605 Shore Road in Northfield. The kickoff will include an announcement about a new service that will help improve area veterans’ access to health care.

Throughout the week, veterans will be able to present their veteran health identification card at Shore Urgent Care offices in Northfield or Mays Landing, or Shore Crucial Care in Atlantic City, and receive a complimentary health screening, which includes cholesterol and blood glucose tests, blood pressure, and body mass index. If an individual is screened with a high risk factor, they will receive recommendations for further care and their primary care physician will be notified.

The free health screenings are intended to help veterans pay closer attention to their health and learn more about the health care options available to them right in their own communities. With their evening and weekend hours, Shore Urgent Care and Shore Crucial Care provide a convenient treatment alternative when veterans are faced with urgent but non life-threatening illnesses or injuries and can not be seen at their local VA clinic.

Veterans who wish to take advantage of the free health screenings should call Shore Urgent Care at 609-365-5333 or Shore Crucial Care at 609-428-4500 to pre-register by phone.
