Every Thursday morning at 7:15am on the Lite Rock Morning Show, the Humane Society of Ocean City brings in the new Lite Rock Pet of the Week.

If you are thinking about adding a pet to your family, please consider adopting from the Humane Society of Ocean City, a no-kill shelter recognized as one of the nation’s top ten animal shelters.

All of the animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped before adoption. All animals also receive an Alumni Card which entitles them to a 10% lifetime discount for veterinary services at the Humane Society of Ocean City clinic.

This week we met “Madison” the cat.

Here is some information on Madison from the Humane Society of Ocean City:

“Madison is a friendly, outgoing orange & white Domestic short-haired female cat. Unfortunately, her story is a common one we experience here at the HSOC. Most people know that many animals are left behind after the summer months in a tourist town like Ocean City.
However, not many people realize that it happens in May as well. This is due to the winter rentals; when many leases are up in mid-May so landlords can prepare for the summer. Animals are often left behind at the residence for the landlord to find. Others are just let go outside to fend for themselves.

Sadly, that is Madison’s story; luckily for Madison, she found some caring people who contacted us right away. Poor Madison was going door to door meowing and trying to find her home. When animal control officers arrived at the scene, Madison was so relieved to see someone who cared, she practically jumped into the officers’ arms!

The ACO’s noticed that Madison’s collar had been removed, which is almost always a sign the animal has been dumped. Madison was ecstatic to be inside and given food, water, and a comfy bed. She is estimated to be about 2 years old and seems as though she’d be good with people of all ages and with most dogs and cats..”
