The flu virus has avoided Cape May County this season. The low risk of being exposed to the virus for all counties in the state has come to an end. According to doctors and pharmacists in Cape May County, the virus is hitting patients hard. Symptoms include aches, pains, wracking coughs, sore throats and feeling miserable due to the flu.

The latest state report on flu dangers shows a bright red “high” for every county in New Jersey including Atlantic and Cape May. The mere thought of getting the flu makes me think twice about getting too close to someone who's sick.

Here are some tips to stay flu-free:

Always wash your hands and use a hand sanitizer when you can’t.

Avoid touching  your eyes, nose and mouth to avoid grems from entering your body.  Don't bite or nibble on your nails.

Stay healthy by eating right, excercising and getting plenty of rest.

Cover your face when you sneeze or cough and stay home if you're sick to avoid spreading your germs.
