The first case of rabies was reported in Atlantic County for 2014. According to county spokeswomen Linda Gilmore a skunk was confirmed with rabies The skunk was killed by a dog at a residence in EHT. The dog was current with all of its rabies vaccination and will be checked regularly for the next 45 days. It's really important  to make sure your pet is properly vaccinated.

Do not approach any wild or stray animals. Contact the county animal control division.
