The countdown is on to one of the biggest sporting events of the year, the Super Bowl. I've already told my wife not to make any plans for Sunday, February 5th, because I'm not doing anything but watching!

And hey, even though none of our local teams will be playing, New Jersey will still be well represented thanks to a couple of players playing in the Big Game.

New England Patriots

Berlin's own Logan Ryan is their Cornerback! Ryan played for the Eastern Vikings at Eastern High School in Voorhees before continuing on to play college ball at Rutgers University.

Atlanta Falcons

Our New Jersey tie to this team comes from Sayerville's Mohamed Sanu. Sanu's football days began at South Brunswick High and like Logan Ryan, continued through his time at Rutgers University.

See? Super Bowl 51 won't be a total loss for New Jersey football fans. There's a total of 13 players and coaches who have connections to the Garden State, including the Falcons Head Coach Dan Quinn who is from Morristown, Patriots Defenseman Devin McCourty who played for St. Joe's in Montvale, and Patriots Wide Receiver Chris Hogan who played ball at Monmouth University.

Either way New Jersey wins the Big Game, right? So, which team will you be rooting for on February 5th?
