The dog days of summer are finally here. Here are some tips to help you keep cool on another sweltering summer day.

According to the National Weather Service temps wil hold steady in the mid 90's. It will even feel hotter as the heat index climbs between 102 to 107 this afternoon.  An excessive heat warning will be in effect until 8 PM.

Here are some tips on how you can beat the heat.

Slow down and reduce, elimnate or reshedule strenuous activities until the coolest time of the day. Children, seniors and anyone with help problems should stay in the coolest available place.

Dress for summer. Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing to reflect heat and sunlight.

Drink plenty of water, non-alcoholic and decaffeinated fluids. Your body needs water to keep cool. Drink plenty of fluids even if you don’t feel thirsty.
