Additional Information

Ocean City’s largest contingent of the Doo Dah Parade will again bring up the tail end of the event as hundreds of basset hounds and their humans walk (or waddle) to support Tri-State Basset Hound Rescue. The parade is a major part of Tri-State’s annual BoardWaddle, a two-day event that funds the rescue of homeless bassets in New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania, and lower New York. The Waddle is the rescue’s largest fundraising event of the year.

The Waddle will begin at the Tabernacle (Sixth St. and Asbury Ave.) on Friday, April 11, at 12:00 noon, with the Basset Olympics. Later that evening at 6:00 p.m., we will be having a dinner/”pawction” at the Greate Bay Country Club, located at 901 Mays Landing Road, Somers Point, NJ.  The dinner is a buffet and the cost is $24.00 per person. This is always a great time! Saturday, April 12, at noon, BoardWaddle participants will gather at Sixth St. and Asbury Ave. (same location as the Olympics) to take part in the DooDah Parade. Following the parade, at 1:00 p.m., at the field behind the Civic Center on Sixth St., Tri-State will host a picnic that includes an arts and crafts show, food vendors, animal rescues and area shelters. The public is invited to both events.

Tri-State uses the funds raised by supporters, who gather pledges for the BoardWaddle, to pay vet bills and kenneling costs for the homeless dogs they rescue. In 2014, Tri-State beat their goal of adopting one dog a day by adopting out 372 basset hounds! Bassets come to the rescue from relinquishing owners, shelters, or puppy mills. The group rehabilitates the dogs and finds them forever homes.  Please see Tri-State Bassethound’s website for complete information.
