Egg Harbor Township Middle School was well represented at the South Jersey Spelling Bee.

The annual Spelling Bee is a competition between all of the spelling be champions from South Jersey schools.

The final two students left standing from over 42 schools  were both from Egg Harbor Township. Congratulations to Spelling Bee champ Sheikh Mahmud from Alder Avenue Middle School and  Samita Islam from Fernwood Avenue Middle School who came in second.

Mahmus becomes the first ever champ from EHT. She'll now represent South Jersey at the Scripps National Spelling Bee Championship in Washington DC. Top prize will be $30,000 and the title of national spelling bee champ!

Here are a few of the word the Sheikh spelled correctly to beome the South Jersey Spelling Bee champ: Mayonnaise, ocarina, zephyr, anachronism, chauvinism, cappelletti and maraschino. How many words would you haved spelled right?
