Congratulations to the staff and students at Alder Avenue Middle School in Egg Harbor Township for being selected as one of  78 schools nationally to win the U.S. Green Ribbon Award.  The award was announced yesterday by the U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan as a way to spotlight... schools leading the way with reducing their environmental impact and improving student health.

Egg Harbor Township superintendent Scott McCartney sited retired teacher Dave Crawford as a catalyst for the award. The one-time Lite Rock Teacher of the Year started the school's ecological "Catawba Project" back in 2000.

Alder Avenue School is one of only four New Jersey schools to win the Green Ribbon Award, and the only one from South Jersey.  Congratulations to all and keep up the good, green work!
