Hammonton's downtown has seen good times and bad, but MainStreet Hammonton wants you to know... the good times are officially here again!

Downtown Hammonton has been named a semifinalist for the national Great American Main Street Award.

Hammonton is one of eight towns nationwide under consideration for the award.  Three finalists will be picked by early March, with the winner being announced during the National Main Streets Conference in New Orleans in April.

MainStreet Hammonton, the non-profit organization charged with revitalizing and publicizing the business sector of Hammonton are rightfully proud of all that's been accomplished by business leaders and volunteers.

Ben Ott, the president of MainStreet Hammonton, credits the volunteer efforts of Jim Donio, president of the Eagle Theatre and Linda Cashan, the owner of Casciano Coffee Bar and Sweetery for special recognition.  Ott tells The Press of Atlantic City he  thinks the development  of Hammonton's arts district was an integral reason for Hammonton's consideration for the Main Street Award.

Win or lose, the publicity of being in the top eight for a national award of  this kind is truly reason to celebrate for Hammonton.  Congratulations!  How about lunch or a little shopping to celebrate?  Downtown Hammonton was lots of great choices!
