Coming By Next Summer – Ocean City, the App

Apps are everywhere, for every purpose these days, so why not an app promoting your town? That's what Ocean City has decided and by next summer you should be able to go to the app on your smart phone to find out about all things Ocean City. 

Shore News Today reports that the Ocean City Tourism Development Commission has agreed to let a Pennsylvania company called Webpage FX create a smartphone app that would help users find information on hotels, entertainment, places to eat and details about Ocean City's tourist-friendly events.

Pretty smart idea, huh?  So what took so long for an O.C. app?  Apparently, Ocean City has been considering an app for some time, but waited for the right proposal and a way to pay for the $33,000 in developmental costs. Ocean City merchants will pick up the tab initially with an eye toward advertising on the app in the future.
