Near record amounts of rain fell overnight in parts of South Jersey, causing flash flooding, power outages, closed roads and multiple travel problems, with Cumberland County taking the brunt of the storm.

8.81 inches of rain fell overnight in Millville, the second most in history for a 24-hour period, with almost 3.5″ falling in just one hour.

The heavy sheets of rain led to flooding on the roadways, and reports came in of a number of cars stranded on Rt. 47 near Millville and Vineland.

Over 4 inches of rain was reported in Egg Harbor Township.

The good news is we should have several days to dry out. Alan Kasper is forecasting sunnier, more pleasant weather at least until Sunday.
