James Reina is leaving, yet staying - moving on, but returning home....all while staying in the same school district.

Reina, Cedar Creek High School's first and only principal, is leaving the school to return to Oakcrest High School effective this week, according to the Press of Atlantic City.

Reina was a teacher, coach and assistant principal at Oakcrest from 2001 until leaving to help open Cedar Creek High in 2009.

John Keenan, superintendent of the school district, announced last week that Reina would assume the role of principal of Oakcrest High School.

Reina will replace Joseph Carruth, whose contract as principal was not renewed by the Greater Egg Harbor Township School District. The district's decision about Carruth lead to protests by students and parents hoping to keep him.

The Press of Atlantic City reports that about 75 people attended a special school district meeting last Tuesday, where Carruth unsuccessfully attempted to convince the school board to retain him for another year.

In a website letter to parents, Keenan said, "Mr. Reina has served Cedar Creek High School with great pride, and is now looking forward to working with the dedicated staff and community of Oakcrest High School where he began his career".
