Every Thursday morning at 7:15am on the Lite Rock Morning Show, the Humane Society of Ocean City brings in the new Lite Rock Pet of the Week.

If you are thinking about adding a pet to your family, please consider adopting from the Humane Society of Ocean City, a no-kill shelter recognized as one of the nation’s top ten animal shelters.

All of the animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped before adoption. All animals also receive an Alumni Card which entitles them to a 10% lifetime discount for veterinary services at the Humane Society of Ocean City clinic.

This week we met “Cecilia” the cat.

Here is some information on Cecilia from the Humane Society of Ocean City:

Cecilia is a sweet, petite year old brown and black tabby with a white chest and feet. She was brought to a local emergency clinic by concerned citizens that found her in their yard and thought she seemed disoriented and were concerned that she may have been injured.

A physical examination by the veterinarian revealed that she was blind or sight impaired.  Unfortunately the people who found her could not keep her and the emergency clinic is not an adoption facility. So that's when the HSOC was contacted to see if we could help.
Cecilia is not completely blind but has some sight impairment.

It is important that her new home has consistency and stability meaning her environment should always be the same. Once vision impaired animals learn their new home and where everything is, it should not change.

Cecilia is affectionate and playful. She would do best in a low activity home. Although she's great with people of all ages, children 12 and over may be best. She may prefer to be only pet in home but does seem like she would get used to other cats or calm cat friendly dogs.

She is vocal and will surely let you know her other likes and dislikes. Please come and visit Cecelia if you are considering adding a feline friend to your household. She's even cuter in person!"
