Every Thursday morning at 7:15am on the Lite Rock Morning Show, the Humane Society of Ocean City brings in the new Lite Rock Pet of the Week.

If you are thinking about adding a pet to your family, please consider adopting from the Humane Society of Ocean City, a no-kill shelter recognized as one of the nation’s top ten animal shelters.
All of the animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped before adoption. All animals also receive an Alumni Card which entitles them to a 10% lifetime discount for veterinary services at the Humane Society of Ocean City clinic.

This week we met Cashmere the cat....
Here is some information on Cashmere from the Humane Society of Ocean City:

“Cashmere is a beautiful medium to long-haired buff colored male cat. He is approximately 9 mos to 1 year old.

Cashmere is too friendly to have not been someone's cat. It happens every year, he was most likely abandoned when people left for the season. He suddenly was seen hanging around, looking to be fed, trying to get into houses when the summer was over. He was obviously owned at one time.

Cashmere was hungry when he arrived at the shelter. He adjusted quickly and was immediately friendly with shelter staff. Cashmere would be good in most households. He can play rough and be mouthy so children 12 and up may be best. He is very playful so other animals to interact with may help with his rough play with people. He would be good with other cats and with time, feline friendly dogs.

Cashmere has a medium length coat but will probably fill out more as he grows. Prospective adopters should be prepared for the maintenance involved with a long haired cat such as brushing, grooming etc. Come visit Cashmere. He will sell himself!
