Cash Cash + Jacquie Lee Blow Roof Off With Acoustic ‘Take Me Home': Exclusive

Forget the trill of high school marching bands or the shrieks of eager cheerleaders: The official sound of homecoming is now officially Cash Cash, Jacquie Lee and a trusty pint-sized keyboard.

The EDM trio and pop vocalist stopped by our studios earlier this month for a powerful acoustic set, and after setting off an "Aftershock," they turned to fan-favorite Cash Cash track "Take Me Home." For Lee, the performance was, indeed, a bit of a homecoming: She covered the song as a soloist for PopCrush in 2014 before ever teaming up with its writers.

"Take Me Home," the studio version of which features BeBe Rexha as lead vocalist, booms in the video above, and makes a powerful declaration about finding a unique sense of comfort in a relationship that's otherwise falling apart. "I'm falling to pieces / But I need this, yeah, I need this / You're my fault, my weakness / When did you turn so cold?" Lee croons before bellowing as powerfully as a tugboat fleet at the chorus. The original recording's house-heavy and packs the punch of a champion heavyweight title match, but here, with the help of delicate guitar plucks, its more sullen notes shine through. Still, you'll be glad you took a second to stand under the dark cloud.
