Police in North Wildwood found a body believed to be a missing teen who was seen in distress in the ocean this week.

Shortly after 6 pm. Saturday,  police were called for a report of a body floating in the inlet, according to the Press of Atlantic City.

Witnesses reported seeing someone Tuesday in Hereford Inlet. Rescuers tried to reach the swimmer but were unsuccessful.

He was last seen struggling in a deep-water channel between Stone Harbor and North Wildwood when two city police officers dove off a rock seawall at Seaview Court in an unsuccessful bid to save him.

Seaview Court has no beach, but steps lead to the water between the rock-piles that make up the seawall. The adjacent beach is unguarded and posted with numerous “danger” and “no swimming” signs.

On Thursday North Wildwood police announced they have interviewed family members who said the 16-year-old boy was last seen Tuesday. Police also have reviewed text messages.

Police earlier declined to release the boy's name.
