Al Della Fave, spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, told NJ.com that while walking along the shore in the Brant Beach section of Long Beach Township Tuesday morning, the Beach Haven resident noticed a body in the surf at 6:43 a.m.

According to authorities, there were no signs of trauma or foul play. The body was identified as John T. Creevy, 59, of Barnegat. Creevy lived alone and was never reported missing, the article states.

Responding police officers found the man with no signs of trauma, Della Fave said. No foul play is suspected. Authorities tell Townsquare Media the death is being investigated as a possible accidental drowning.  NJ.com reports that the medical examiner believes his body was in the water for about eight hours before it was discovered Tuesday morning.
