New Jersey State Police confirm that a body was found this morning at about 6am on the Ocean City Beach at 25th Street.

Although there is no conconfirmation, the speculation is that it is the body of David McAuliffe, the captain of the Cape Hatteras, the Sea Tow boat which sank off the coast of Ocean City more than a week ago.

McAuliffe's family are said to be in Ocean City this morning, but are not commenting on the finding of the body.

The Press of Atlantic City reports that Ocean City Police have blocked off the surrounding area during their investigation.  Apparently, several items believed to be from the boat have washed ashore in the last few days.
