We’ve all been there, stuck at an intersection in heavy traffic watching the light turn green only to not move a single inch. As the busier summer season approaches, it seemed like a good time to talk about one of South Jersey's most challenging intersections.

Here is the intersection where I always seem to find my inner road rage. The intersection of Shore Rd/Tilton Rd and Mill Road in Northfield.

The problem with this intersection is there are too many roads intersecting and too many different directions for drivers to go. There are five different destination points converging at this busy Northfield crossroads, each one with a turn lane, increasing the possible directions to travel to close to infinity. If you happen to just miss this light, pack a lunch and  get comfortable because you will be there awhile waiting for your turn.
And then there is the summer season. On certain summer Friday afternoons, the traffic on Tilton Road waiting to cross the Margate causeway has been known to back up to the Lite Rock Studios, almost a mile down the road. The same thing happens in reverse on Tilton Road on Sunday afternoons leaving the causeway as the great weekender departure takes place.
This is my choice, mind you, as it is an intersection I travel on a regular basis. There are surely many others Atlantic County or South Jersey intersections that challenge a poor soul's sanity with which you are more familiar. I would love to hear about them and consider them for the title of the 'South Jersey's Worst Intersection".
