An Atlantic City police officer was shot early Saturday morning near Caesars parking garage; one suspect was killed and police are searching for at least two others.

UPDATE 11:15AM -- The Atlantic County Prosecutors Office reports the officer is out of surgery and remains in critical conditions. Police are searching for five suspects. This is video of a press conference from around 11:00 Saturday morning...

Initial story:

WTXF-TV reports officers responded to Arkansas Avenue near Caesars parking garage around 3:00 Saturday morning. At some point, following a traffic stop, there was an exchange of gunfire.

One ACPD officer was shot and taken to ARMC-City and last reported to be in critical condition. One suspect was shot and killed at the scene. Police are currently searching for at least two suspects that fled the area.

Sgt. Kevin Fair of the Atlantic City police, via WPVI-TV, said, "They went to stop a group of individuals. I'm not quite sure why. At the time of their encounter one of the individuals shot and wounded one of our Atlantic City police officers."

Atlantic City Mayor Don Guardian said, "I'm also very grateful for all of the police officers we have scouring the city. And we are doing everything we can to provide safety for our residents and visitors."

The New Jersey State PBA has offered a $20,000 reward for information on the suspects that police are searching for.
