Sunday was a day for basketball championships in South Jersey with victories for the Atlantic City boys and the Ocean... City Girls basketball teams.

The Ocean City girls won their first ever state title, while the boys from Atlantic City won their second straight championship and third overall.

The Lady Red Raiders defeated Jefferson Township in the state Group III game held in Toms River. Ocean City never trailed the game. They now advance to the Tournament of Champions, as the sixth-seed playing three-seed Red Bank Tuesday at 6P.M. in Toms River.

The Atlantic City boys needed overtime to defeat Linwood Sunday evening at Rutgers in Piscataway.  The Vikings, who trailed by three points in the final minute of regulation, beat Linden 60-54 in overtime of the state Group IV boys final.

Atlantic City seeded third, faces six-seed Point Pleasant in the Tournament of Champions Wednesday at 8 P.M. in Toms River.
