Every Thursday morning at 7:15am on the Lite Rock Morning Show, the Humane Society of Ocean City brings in the new Lite Rock Pet of the Week.

If you are thinking about adding a pet to your family, please consider adopting from the Humane Society of Ocean City, a no-kill shelter recognized as one of the nation’s top ten animal shelters.

All of the animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped before adoption. All animals also receive an Alumni Card which entitles them to a 10% lifetime discount for veterinary services at the Humane Society of Ocean City clinic.

This week we met Annabelle the cat…

Here is some information on Annabelle from the Humane Society of Ocean City:

“ Annabelle is a pretty, petite solid black domestic long haired cat with a sweet and calm demeanor. She is approximately 12 years old.
Annabelle was originally adopted from the HSOC when she was 1 year old. She was a perfect addition for a family looking for a furry companion to complete it. As the family aged and the kids moved out, another cat was acquired as a companion to Annabelle. She showed her new friend the ropes of living with humans and lived happily together for many more years.
Unfortunately, major life changes forced her owner to have to find himself and both cats a new home. His wife had passed away and then financial difficulties led to him losing his house. He was unable to find a place that would allow pets. He desperately searched for homes for his faithful companions but was unable to do so. Reluctantly, but with no choice, he had to surrender Annabelle to the HSOC.
Annabelle has adjusted well but eagerly awaits a new home. She is suitable for just about any home willing to take on a senior cat. She is good with kids of all ages. She's also good with other cats and has lived with a dog before. Annabelle is strictly an indoor cat since she had been declawed by the original owner that surrendered her to the Shelter 11 years ago.
Please consider Annabelle for adoption. She still has a lot of love to give and deserves to live the rest of her life in a home and not in a cage at a shelter"
