It might surprise you to learn that Amy Poehler had never won an Emmy before last night, but less so that she’d make history doing it. Ahead of the full ceremony next Sunday, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey both took home Emmy awards for their SNL hosting, and made history in the process.

Per Deadline, the joint Creative Arts Emmy victory of Fey and Poehler put a new footnote in the record books to complement their SNL 2015 closer. The duo now become the first joint victors of the Best Comedy Series Guest Actress category, as well the first dual Emmy winners of any acting category.

The ninth Emmy win for Fey, and a surprising first for Poehler, the SNL hosts bested a category that included fellow SNL hosts Amy Schumer and Melissa McCarthy, along with The Big Bang Theory stars Laurie Metcalf and Christine Baranski, and Transparent star Melora Hardin. Neither Fey, nor Poehler could accept in person, but it seems Bob Newhart could on their behalf.

The larger Emmy awards will take place on Sunday, September 18, so what other first-timers might take home gold?
