An alert 5-year-old is being called a hero after preventing a Margate house from burning down over the long Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Lillian Becker from Brooklyn, was spending the holiday weekend at her grandmother's house in Margate when she noticed smoke coming from a neighbor's home in the section of Granville Avenue according to the Press of Atlantic City.

The quick thinking little girl told her family of seeing smoke coming from the Margate home which prompted a call to 911. The summer home was unoccupied at the time.

Margate firefighters were able to contain the blaze and quickly put the fire out thanks to the early detection and 911 call by Lilly and her family. The blaze could have turned into something more serious if it wasn't for Lilly who received a stuffed fire dog and bear from the Margate Fire Chief.

Way to go Lilly!
