Every Thursday morning at 7:15am on the Lite Rock Morning Show, the Humane Society of Ocean City brings in the new Lite Rock Pet of the Week.

If you are thinking about adding a pet to your family, please consider adopting from the Humane Society of Ocean City, a no-kill shelter recognized as one of the nation’s top ten animal shelters.

All of the animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped before adoption. All animals also receive an Alumni Card which entitles them to a 10% lifetime discount for veterinary services at the Humane Society of Ocean City clinic.

This week we met “Chewie" and "Lily" the dogs.

Here is some information on Chewie and Lily from the Humane Society of Ocean City:

“ Chewie and Lily were surrendered to the HSOC on June 21st, 2016 after their previous owner had passed away. They were in rough shape when they arrived, suffering from severe skin allergies, especially Chewie.  However, after weeks of TLC (routine bathing and a proper diet) they were healthy again and looking and feeling GREAT!!

Chewie is a Shih Tzu, about 8-9 yrs of age who actually looks like his name sake. He has some difficulty seeing and has skin allergies that require routine bathing and a special diet to maintain his good health. He is a bit shy, but friendly and interactive enough, preferring a quite lap and a nap to energetic play. Chewie is Lily’s uncle.

Lily is a Shih Tzu and Pug mix—she is adorable with her little under bite!! Lillie is about 6-7 yrs of age and has lots of energy to spare playing and exploring! Lily has much less severe skin allergies than her uncle does, but she also will require routine (though less frequent) bathing and a special diet to maintain her good health.

It would be preferred to keep the pooches together, as they have been since Lily was a pup, but individual adoptions are possible. As a pair they would do well in most homes having older adults. Once again, Chewie is a low-activity dog, not interested in lots of traveling, though he does enjoy a bit of walking if the weather is nice. Lillie has plenty of energy to run and play and loves going for walks, however she is also quite independent and assertive..”
