There was another brazen drive-by shooting incident on a busy South Jersey roadway over Labor Day Weekend and police are requesting your help finding the gunman.

From the Absecon Police Facebook page, here is a detailed recap of what happened at about 7:30pm Sat. Sept. 2 on the White Horse Pike at Shore Road, when occupants of one car opened fire on a man in another car.

At approximately 7:30 pm on Saturday, Sept. 2nd patrol responded to the intersection of Rt. 30 and Shore Rd in #Absecon for a reported shooting. Upon arriving they found an unoccupied Nissan Altima with multiple bullet holes to the vehicle. However, there was no driver or passengers on scene.

A short time later the police department received a call from Atlanticare Regional Medical Center, Mainland Division about a male who was driven to the hospital and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The male was identified as the driver of the Nissan, 25 year old Laquan Rex from Galloway.

The initial investigation revealed a vehicle pulled up to Rex's Nissan at the intersection of Rt. 30 and Shore Rd during a red light. This second vehicle began firing into the Nissan striking Rex. A passerby came upon Rex and transported him to the hospital prior to police arrival. Rex was later transferred from ARMC Mainland to ARMC City Division where he underwent emergency surgery.

At this time the accused vehicle was only described as a dark colored, 4 door sedan. Further information may be disseminated as the investigation progresses. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Absecon Police Department at (609)641-0667. Calls and tips shall remain anonymous.
