Abundant sunshine, very warm temperatures, and comfortable humidity levels will make for a great weather weekend in New Jersey.

After last night's noisy, drenching thunderstorms, I'm pleased to say today will be a quiet weather day. And the weather for this Saturday and Sunday? Wow, you just can't ask for a much better summer weekend!

Scattered clouds this morning will give way to abundant sunshine this afternoon. What's more, dew point (humidity levels) are decreasing a bit today. It will still be very warm, with afternoon high temperatures in the upper 80s - but at least we won't have to chew through that oppressive, sticky, steamy air from earlier in the week.

Temperatures at the Jersey Shore will be a bit cooler, as usual, thanks to a light sea breeze and the cooler waters of the bays and ocean. Highs should be around 80° at the beach today. With ocean temperatures ranging from 73° to 80° from Sandy Hook to Cape May, I don't hesitate to call it a beautiful beach day. Of course, be sure to make generous use of the sunscreen as the UV Index will hover in the "Very High" range all weekend.

This evening and overnight will feel quite comfortable, thanks to the decreased dew points. Low temperatures will range from 60° in North Jersey and along the coast to the upper 60s in urban areas and in far South Jersey.

The sunny, hot weather continues this weekend. Highs will be in the upper 80s on Saturday. A storm system will pass just south of New Jersey on Saturday night... perilously close to Cape May County. But I'm optimistically keeping any clouds and rain out of our forecast - if any raindrops do fall, it will happen Saturday night..

Sunday's high temperatures will bump to either side of 90°, under mostly sunny skies. Subtle changes to our weather will happen Sunday afternoon, as clouds increase a bit ahead of our next storm system. The GFS model does currently place some raindrops over the Garden State starting about Midnight on Sunday night/Monday morning. But I can't rule out those showers pushing a few hours earlier or later - or quite possibly not happening at all.

As we head back to work next week, New Jersey's weather will become unsettled once again. And yes, the humidity will rise again. (I just love when we manage to squeak out a great weekend in between periods of stormy, steamy weather!) Showers and thunderstorms pop back into the forecast for the first half of the week. At the moment, the wettest day looks to be Wednesday, but that's subject to change as this forecast evolves. Meanwhile, temperatures will remain at or above normal... We're currently forecasting mid 80s on Monday, around 90° on Tuesday, and mid to upper 80s for Wednesday and Thursday.
