In a fitting tribute to a man who preached about empowerment and fighting poverty,  you have the chance to do something to help others... during the Martin Luther King, Jr. national holiday.

One such local effort  is The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey partnering with the Galloway Township Public Schools in the eighth annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service.

Registration begins at 8:30a.m. Monday at Stockton,  with volunteer projects being held on and off campus from 10-2p.m.

Some of this year's volunteer projects include helping at the Atlantic City Rescue Mission, The Atlantic Riding Center in Egg Harbor Township and at South Jersey CARING Adult Day Healthcare Centers.

Of course, you don't have to join an organized Day of Service effort to make this MLK Day  " a day on, and not a day off"- just do something positive for someone who needs it!
