The South Jersey Lifeguard Racing season gets off to a busy start this week with the 31st annual Cape May County Championships at the Rambler Road beach in Wildwood Crest.

The Cape May Championships were originally scheduled for last Thursday, but were postponed because of Hurricane Arthur.

The Ocean City Lifeguard team are the defending champions, having won the title 14 of the previous 30 years.

The women lifeguards racing season kicks off Tuesday with the Longport Women's Lifeguard Invitational at the 33rd Street beach.

The Chief Bill Kuhn Invitational Lifeguard Races are Thursday at 6pm at the 16th Street beach in Brigantine.

Friday features two lifeguard racing events, the Beschen Callahan Memorials in North Wildwood, and the Captain Michael D. McGrath Memorials in Longport.
